Providing Daily Nutritious Snacks to Support Focused and Ready Learners
Help me give my students daily access to healthy snacks that will keep them energized, focused, and ready to learn by providing classroom snack options for those who may come to school hungry or without food.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a kindergarten teacher, I see firsthand how hunger can impact a child’s ability to focus, participate, and fully engage in learning. Many of my students arrive at school with limited or no access to snacks throughout the day, and this affects their energy levels, attention spans, and overall well-being. That’s why I’m creating this project—to provide a consistent supply of healthy, classroom-friendly snacks that help my students stay nourished and ready to learn.
Kindergarten is a critical time for developing foundational skills in literacy, math, and social interaction.
It’s also a time when young learners are adjusting to the structure and expectations of a full school day. Having access to snacks gives them the fuel they need to stay alert and engaged, especially during long stretches between meals. A small snack can make a big difference in helping a child feel secure, cared for, and able to focus on their learning.
With your generous support, I will be able to stock our classroom with individually packaged, allergy-conscious snacks such as crackers, fruit cups, granola bars, applesauce, and other nutritious options. These snacks will be offered during our designated snack time and will be available for any student who needs them—no questions asked.
This project is about more than food—it’s about meeting a basic need that allows my students to fully participate in their education. Your donation helps create a more equitable and supportive classroom where all students can succeed, regardless of their home circumstances. Thank you for making a lasting impact.
