My Students
In our kindergarten classroom, we have 24 kindergarten students split into two half day classes; many are on the autism spectrum or have other special needs and require additional accommodations and services. We strive in incorporate as much movement and activities woven throughout our learning every school day. When traditional methods often are not as effective for regulating student's sensory input.
Our school is the premiere charter school in Utah for students on the autism spectrum.
We serve students all along the Wasatch Front.
My Project
With including these chairs in our flexible seating options, students will be able to expand their choices. We use flexible seating options throughout the day, but especially during whole group times such as calendar and math.
Several of my students struggle during whole group lessons but have shown great improvements while I'm given them options for different seating options.
However, currently I do not have enough seating options for each of my students to have something. In our classroom currently, we have t-stools, dyna-discs, yoga balls, and large inflatable dice. With these flex-space seats, each student will be able to access their own choice of seating.
