Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The products I have chosen will help my 5th grade students dive into STEM learning by providing them with real-life examples and also giving kinesthetic learners the ability to understand concepts better. 5th grade students in Texas take a Science state exam and this will allow us to complete projects that will take their learning further. By use of the STEM and K'NEX projects, students are able to learn while having fun. This can increase their confidence in the source material because they will be familiar with the concepts. They can also be easily organized in carts or bookshelves.
My school is primarily made up of emergent bilingual students who are beginners in the English language, so these type of projects help transcend language barriers and students are able to gain that first-hand experience.
My ultimate goal is to make science learning something that every student, regardless of what type of learner they are, as visual and hands on as possible so that they can take those experiences with them everywhere.
