My Students
As a diverse learner/special needs teacher I wear many hats and I spend my day in multiple classrooms. My schedule varies from day to day since the kids I service require varied amounts of support. I am determined to see their "smile of understanding". Technology + Special Education = True Love!
I've had the honor of teaching for 6 years and I absolutely love teaching children.
My greatest satisfaction is seeing students succeed! My favorite hobby is being creative! I believe the majority of things that are interesting, important and human are the result of creativity. Everything around me inspires me such as music, television and print media love creating and designing things...be it art, scrapbooks, videos, collages, commercials, websites, slideshows, t-shirts and interior rooms. My love for creativity inspired me to major in Radio/TV and minor in Marketing at SIU. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts. I worked for a major Chicago radio station as an On-Air Producer & Event Marketer. I also had the opportunity to help facilitate a few castings calls for MTV. My love for media grew as I also worked for a popular independent Chicago TV station. I then received my Masters in Teaching from NLU. My goal is to expose children to creative thinking through innovative teaching.
My Project
I LOVE TECHNOLOGY and want to profess my love to the world! Dedicated educators are also students. I am requesting an iPad with larger memory to help complete professional development for Google Education Certifications.The receipt of this iPad will afford me another opportunity to show my commitment to lifelong learning by completing the educator qualification. I will use the iPad to create, store and upload the requirements. I have mastered the essentials of Google but I would like to receive more advanced knowledge in Google Apps for Education (GAE). Students will learn to modernly collaborate by creating, editing, & sharing files in real-time. Challenged learners will learn to work more efficiently through collaboration. Collaboration fosters teamwork, problem-solving and organization. GAE creatively provides personalized learning tools that will be great for my special needs students. They will be more engaged because GAE helps students work more independently and accurately.
I want to show children that education can provide opportunities that will give them a bright future, pride in themselves and provide hope for generations to come.
As the teacher, I am responsible for ensuring a successful learning environment where all students can reach their potential. Google Apps will help me build their confidence and optimism for the future. By donating, you will help me maintain their desire to learn. I realize the task is not easy, but I am always up for the challenge.
