My Project
Our school community is made up of bright, creative, and determined students, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college. They are eager to learn about life after high school, explore options, and see themselves thriving in higher education.
To celebrate College Awareness Month in October and reinforce a college-going culture year-round, I would like to decorate my classroom with college pennant flags from a wide range of universities and colleges across the country.
These colorful flags will create a visual, daily reminder that higher education is a real, reachable goal.
This project will help students:
-Explore different types of colleges (HBCUs, community colleges, state schools, and private universities)
-Feel inspired by the variety of possibilities available to them
-Start conversations about application requirements, majors, and college life
-Build personal goals tied to academic and career planning
-Pennants from schools across the nation will not only brighten our room, but also symbolize the many doors open to students when they work hard and believe in themselves.
A thoughtfully decorated space matters. When students walk into a room that visually affirms their potential, they feel more motivated and included. These pennants will help normalize college talk and build excitement around postsecondary planning—especially for students who might not yet see college as part of their future. With your help, we can turn our classroom into a vibrant, motivational space that celebrates ambition, options, and opportunity.
