I am a developer of people, programs and projects and a protector of peace! The requested materials will support my daily efforts to ensure my students know how to utilize all the tools in their tool box for their social and emotional well being.
Self Advocacy is paramount to protecting one’s peace.
Each student should be afforded the opportunity to thrive towards their quest for success. In an effort to support their quest for success , authentic practice is a non-negotiable. Learning to cultivate and nurture self love is a critical component to such quest.
The materials requested by this project will help facilitate the critical components of social and emotional learning and well being.

I service a population of high school students, ages 14-20, years of age in an alternative setting. Alternative just means different from a traditional setting , yet a “real” high school that upon completion, the students receive a “real” high school diploma.
Our Social and Emotional (SEL) sessions allow me the opportunity to work with our students on:
De-escalation strategies ( fidgets)
Self-awareness ( reflection journals)
Positive affirmations ( positive wall decor)
Comforting calmness ( fuzzy pens)
Self-meditation ( floor rugs)
Hygiene & Healthy Practice ( Lysol & snacks)
Feelings Meter ( roll the dice game ) to
Sound machine & essential oil diffuser ( aids in curating an atmosphere of relaxation for mediation & reflective practice)
Such activities will allow the students the opportunity to implement de-escalation strategies by becoming more self aware in order to help regulate their emotions.
