This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Bach, Beethoven, Chopin...what a treat! Welcome to our world. My students explore the various musical concepts on a global stage.
AES is situated in an urban area with over 500 students.
We serve a diverse population that includes 90% African Americans and 5% Hispanics, and 5% other. All of our students receive free lunch. The achievement gap is well documented through data that includes our benchmark and standardized test scores.
My goal is to expose our students to every aspect of the musical world through orchestra.
My Project
My students are growing and learning daily. They are eager to grasp the basic principles of orchestral playing. Each student is responsible for carrying his or her instrument, music stand, pencil, and music to class every session.
The binders will be utilized for practices and performances at school and throughout the community.
The binder will allow each student to keep his or her music neat and organized. The music book and pencil will be housed in the pocket of the binder. Individual sheet music and theory handouts will be protected by the rings of the notebook. I will create a cover sheet for identification purposes.
