Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

These materials will help ensure our students blueberry, lemon, lime, and fig plants will stay healthy and weed free. Our students enjoy getting their hands dirty working in our flower beds and then eating their produce.

The garden mulch, mulch spray, and garden sprayer will be used to help keeps the weeds away so our plants stay healthy and strong.

We have a major weed issue around our blueberry bushes and hope to prevent this same issue around our other citrus plants.

This year our students planted cabbage plants, grew them, and recently harvested them. They got to cook them at school and enjoy their hard work! DonorsChoose provided all of the new soil, fertilizer, and tools the students used thanks to wonderful donors!

The Roundup and mulch ring will be placed around all of the citrus trees to help prevent more weeds. These rings will be placed under the new mulch. The Roundup will be sprayed round the perimeter of the flower beds so the students can easily access the flower beds without having weeds all over their tiny feet.
