This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning to read and play music changes lives. In the two years that we have converted our general music classes into bands, I have seen tremendous growth.

My students are amazing.

They are growing in areas of maturity, responsibility, and leadership. They are remembering multiple directions in sequence. They are redirecting their peers when someone gets off track. To judge my students by their socioeconomic status would be a mistake.

My Project

The Musicopia gift of music program has adopted our school! This means that they are sending us trumpets and baritones whenever someone donates one to their program. We recently received a beautiful silver marching baritone which is being used constantly. However, there is no case for this instrument. We try to put it in a safe place, but we use every inch of our room. My students need a baritone case to protect the amazing instrument.

This case will protect the investment that was already made into our music class.

Though we have done our best to be very careful, there have been one or two times that I have found the baritone lying horizontally on the floor (very dangerous.)
