My Students
Something exciting is happening in our room. We are about to be the proud recipients of three brand new Nooks (electronic readers). The students are so excited, but worried how they will be protected from bumps, scratches and grubby fingers!
My students, a diverse group of dear and sweet 5th graders, are brimming with delight at the prospect of our new Nooks that will be arriving shortly (thanks to amazing donors at DonorsChoose).
While many of my students struggle to read, or just plain dislike it, I have finally found a way to get them excited about reading. Thanks to an e-reader. While technology is consuming their lives in ways that entertain, few think about reading a book to entertain themselves.
My Project
Entertaining children today is so different from years past. Remember those times you would sit in a comfy chair, turning the delicate pages of a book, ignoring the world around as you were absorbed into a land of mystery, intrigue, excitement, anguish, and I could go on. Today it is a struggle to pull them away from the technology surrounding them...so I say let them keep their technology, only use it to aid them in becoming absorbed into a the world of books. Our new Nooks should be arriving very soon, my students are excited, but also concerned about how we will protect them. They know things fall, kids sometimes have sticky fingers, scratches can happen accidentally. They are so proud of what they will have in their hands, they want it to be protected. The NOOK covers and screen films will protect these NOOKS so that many more students in the future will benefit.

Investing in these protective NOOK Color covers means that students in future classes will benefit. The covers I selected have a 3-point clip mechanism to hold the NOOK Color securely in place while allowing easy access to the ports and controls. A small recess has been engineered into the lining of the back panel to enhance the sound of the device's speaker. It's the perfect protection.
