My students need books on CD to help them listen to engaging and quality stories while still learning to use a book.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Candow's classroom raised $535

My Students
My students come from a very diverse neighborhood, one that is filled with areas of revitalization next to areas of extreme poverty. 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students have a variety of special needs, but each brings their own gifts and strengths to the classroom.
I have loved watching the students gain confidence as they grow and learn.
Students that previously were quiet and did not participate have begun to laugh at books, make comments, and answer questions.
My Project
My students are ages 5- 10 and really enjoy listening to stories and books. By using books on CD, they will not be limited by their reading abilities and can enjoy books independently. After reading, they often struggle to express their comprehension and sequencing of what they have read. We have worked on making connections between their lives and the books we've read. Using props will help student recall and retell the story.
Their joy and excitement shine through as they listen to and discuss stories.
Being able to enjoy stories independently and retell in different ways will increase their passion for reading.
