This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title 1 School in Montgomery, Alabama where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of our students also receive backpack food on the weekends. Despite so many hardships and challenges, my students enter the music room excited, eager to learn, and and always striving to be the very best that they can be in everything they do.
My students love being able to sing, dance, and play instruments.
They love anything type of activity that involves rhythm.
My Project
My students love to play a variety of instruments. They come into the music room everyday with lots of excitement and eager to sing, dance, and play instruments. We have various instruments in our music room such as recorders, gathering drums, buckets, hand bells, boomwhackers, and keyboards. However, we do not have a chair for the students to sit in that will allow them to be able to have the proper posture needed in order to play on our classroom keyboard.
Being able to have this chair for our classroom, will not only allow the students to have proper seating needed to play on the keyboard, it will also help us to be able to utilize our limited classroom space more efficiently.
