Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 25 little, adventurous children every single day! My students are from Texas. My students are filled with self-expression and a love of learning. Last year, Hurricane Harvey affected many of our families. Despite this huge obstacle, our students still managed to engage in learning throughout the year.
In the Lumberjack classroom my students come from low-income minority communities and a huge percentage are English Language Learners.
Watching my students succeed despite the challenges they face, has inspired me and has helped me grow. I am so lucky to teach these amazing students this year. In my classroom we are learning about character and academics. Students will engage in many activities that will help them develop in order to be successful in the real world.
My Project
These materials will make a huge impact in the Lumberjack classroom to all my students. My students will be able to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom while engaging with interactive visuals. My document camera will help with science projects and teaching them new and fun strategies in math. Students will enjoy teaching their peers their strategies and with the visuals of a document camera they can build confidence while helping each other. Students with special needs will benefit from the options of flexible seating. I know my little Lumberjacks will be able to grow and enjoy these amazing resources all year long!
