This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 26 amazing little people with big hearts. My students are filled with self-expression and love for learning. Last year, hurricane Harvey affected many of our families at KIPP Dream Prep. Our school was damaged and due to that, many teachers and students were displaced from their classrooms and had to share a space. Some of our students were also displaced from their homes.

Despite this huge obstacle, our students still managed to engage in learning.

Hurricane Harvey is something they still talk about but are proud that they overcame. Watching my students succeed despite obstacles that they face, has inspired me and taught me so much. I am so lucky to teach these incredible students and I am excited to also meet my new class. This year we are learning more about social justice and our students will engage in many activities that help them understand more about themselves and their teammates.

My Project

These iPads will allow my students to engage in learning while using apps like iStation which measures student growth and also allows them to participate in literacy activities. Students will also be able to use Zearn which is an app created for math engagement based on each student's needs. Class Dojo is also an app that my students would enjoy using because it allows them to post pictures to share with their family through out the day.

My students will also be able to read books on the iPads and engage in conversations about what they learned while reading.

I really want to focus on peer conversations so that students can also learn from each other. These iPads will be an amazing resource to use all year!
