This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students need to see themselves represented and reflected in our daily instruction and classroom environment. Waiting for one month per year is simply not enough.

Please provide our phenomenal students with the tools to celebrate their cultures and heritages in a predominately minority, low-income, special education school that needs every excuse to celebrate our students.

Our school is urban, inner-city, Title 9, and most of our students are on IEPs. They need to know they are valued and cherished as students and learners. Promoting diversity and celebrating their heritage is always difficult in school that receives minimal funding. Please help them achieve by furnishing the school with celebratory tools for every classroom, so each student can see themselves each day as an asset and resource.

This project aims to boost awareness among the entire school environment about the various diversity months and will foster student pride and self-esteem as they see their faces reflected on the walls, in the halls, and in daily instruction. We can overcome the racial divide and even the playing field for our marginalized, disadvantaged students through this project.
