Promoting Self Regulation with Gross Motor and Fine Motor Activities!
Help me give my students some added materials to have gross motor breaks and use white board writing to promote self regulation in speech and language therapy.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Self Regulation is key in tapping into a time when the child's brain can accept new speech and language concepts. We have to find the right balance where we push our students to practice new skills and find fun ways to present the materials.
When gross motor learning ( scooter board)is incorporated into lessons the child is more engaged and they internalize the new skill taught.
Working side by side with the Occupational Therapist she has taught me how gross motor play positively impacts the lower brain and learning is enhanced.
When fine motor skills are used ( whiteboard markers) we internalize the information written).
