Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an energetic bunch of sixth graders. They are very competitive and always strive to do their best! They are a diverse group from many different backgrounds and socioeconomic status.
They love to try new things and I try to bring them a variety of different activities that will encourage them to stay physically active for a lifetime!
There are around 35-45 students in each sixth grade Physical Education class. We work on working well as a team, encouraging each other, having self-respect and respecting others and the equipment. Our main focus is to always give 100 percent effort and work to improve while also encouraging our peers to do their best as well!
My Project
Our 6th grade PE program doesn't earn money the way our 7/8 grade program does through the sale of PE clothes. We depend on donations and a few fundraisers we can put together throughout the year.
We are in desperate need to replace old equipment and get new equipment that will help the students be excited about physical activity!
We would be able to do so many new and exciting games/activities if we were to be able to get this equipment! We have a lot of ideas that will come to life with this new equipment!
The mesh jerseys will make it so much easier for the students to keep track of their teammates. There are so many activities the students love that we can use the dodgeballs for as well as many new games we want to try. The foam tennis balls are perfect for our first few days of the tennis unit when they are learning the basics because they move slower and don't fly as far.
