This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best second grade class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in Los Angeles where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My school offers a free after school program until 6pm along with supper for the students.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. I believe in these kids and believe that they CAN be just as successful as any other students.
My Project
Our students are so tech savvy and are looking for ways to use modern tools to promote kindness and more importantly our staff is working on our students' emotional well-being this year. We are raising awareness on how to be empathetic and respect each others' differences. The plan is to use the laptop to edit short videos and upload them to our school's website and social media channels that connect us to our school community. Each video will focus on a character trait and feature kids being positive examples to kids while problem solving difficult scenarios that could occur at school everyday.
Technology is such a wonderful tool to engage all the students and a valuable resource in promoting kindness and respect in our school and community.
Our students truly believe that we can all be better human beings. This project idea was kid designed and kid approved. Please help our kindness campaign in any way you can. Thank you.
