This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These books will help to make the world of storytelling more accessible, inclusive, and engaging for my students who come from a diversity of lived experiences. Being able to pick a book off of the shelf that reflects who they are, challenges their bias, or piques a new interest is something that all students should have access to.
I want to encourage critical thinking and a love for reading by sparking students' curiosity about banned and challenged texts.
As a first year teacher, I am building my classroom library from scratch. I am striving to include a rich variety of texts so students can choose what truly interests them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
