My Project
I am a digital media teacher for high school students with Autism, and other moderate to severe disabilities. April is Autism Acceptance month. My students know and understand the implications of feeling left out or being judged because of a disability. We aim to do our community service project through various types of media by creating visual displays and showcasing our inclusive school events to our entire school and local community!
Help my students speak out to promote inclusivity by showcasing diversity and highlighting the value of differences within our school community.
By providing us with a scanner and photo printer, my students can create visual posters to inform the student body on ways to remain inclusive. They will do this by printing clear photos of themselves and other students with Autism showing compassion, fairness, and acceptance of others. They will create informational posters and flyers, which they will deliver to each and every class, informing students on ways to include others and the benefit of accepting differences. We will also aim to have students use these materials to create a school-wide inclusivity mural by our main entrance to showcase our own uniqueness!
