Promoting Good Mental Health

Help me give my students good mental health by providing a safe and nurturing environment by aiding the class with lamps, encouraging decor, plants, stressballs, and healthy snacks.

My Project

I am wanting to promote good mental health in my classroom. Just last week, a student walked in my room crying. When I pulled them aside they said "I am just worthless." Throughout the first nine weeks, I noticed several students struggling with issues that fell under the mental health umbrella. I am doing everything I can to breath truth into these students, but providing a welcoming classroom would be icing on the cake.

One way to promote good mental health is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students.

I added lamps to my cart so I will be able to turn the harsh overhead lights off and still maintain good and relaxing lighting with the little bit of natural light I have. I added encouraging room décor to my cart so that students walk in and are reminded by words of their worth. Since we are not allowed to open the windows to our rooms, I added plants to improve the room's air quality. These three things will provide a better environment for the students.

Another way to promote good mental health is to provide ways to release stress. I added stress balls to my cart to give students an outlet to release stress in a positive manner.

Last, but certainly not least, I added plenty of snacks to my cart for students in need. By providing students in need with a snack, I offer them energy and concentration. Giving students in need snacks will also promote a positive relationship to open trust and ultimately give me an opportunity to share love with someone who desperately needs it.

I believe this project will encourage students by providing a safe environment and meeting a psychical and emotional need.
