Our integrated preschool has an eager group of diverse students. They enjoy walking into our classroom to explore, learn and grow with a variety of projects and activities. We read lots of books, enjoy music activities and take time to explore our environment.
Our preschoolers love to explore and build!
We have a number of English Language Learners and students with a variety of disabilities. It is important for them to develop social skills while developing speech and language skills, fine and gross motor skills and academic knowledge.
Our students learn best through play and sensory explorations that will promote friendships and social-emotional growth. One way we can do this is to encourage our students to explore their environment, share materials and take turns with favored toys.
My Project
My young students love to build blocks and explore sensory items such as homemade sensory bottles, made with oil and water, glitter, and other things. Play dough or other materials often have multiple students joining in the science center to explore cooperatively. I can't wait to see what my students will build with the Shape It! Sand.
I want to promote cooperative exploration in other centers.
By adding the tiles to our writing center and the Squigztm into the block center, we can build on students' interest in sensory materials and promote more cooperative explorations and play in areas in and outside of the science center.
