Our students are ready and willing to take on the challenges of a 21st-century education. They have many diverse styles of learning and need exposure to 21st-century learning resources. They need to collaborate with their peers and lead by example.
We are 95% African-American, 2% Haitian-American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is located in the inner city of Miami, Florida. Although our students are faced with many socio-economic challenges, they seek a high-quality education to become productive citizens.
My Project
Providing a safe and healthy classroom environment is paramount to student success. Considering the uptick of airborne bacteria and viruses during the Fall and Winter months, it is important that our students breathe clean, pure air. This will reduce absenteeism because students will not become ill at school.
An air purifier will enhance all the precautions we already put in place, such as hand-washing, sanitizing of high use areas and social distancing.
Having students in school on a daily basis is key to mitigating learning loss experienced due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Providing snacks is also important for our young scholars to keep them focused on the lesson and not their little tummies.
