My Project

I am creating this project to purchase various items to assist in implementing more efficient accessible activities for my students. These items will promote physical movement activities which will promote success in their routines.

I work in a Special Education setting where my students are battling many challenges within themselves.

The majority of the students are on the autism spectrum. My students range from 5th grade to 8th grade. This means there are multiple learning styles among my students. It is imperative to provide our students with access to various outlets on a daily basis. I plan to stimulate and strengthen my students’ minds through various movement activities.

The daily schedule for the movement class consists of Monday Zumba, Tuesday Obstacle Course, Wednesday Yoga, Thursday Step Aerobics fitness, and Friday’s Freestyle dancing/Games Fun Friday. I plan to use these items to help improve focus, strength, balance and clarity. The Stepping Stones and Figure Trimmer Core Abs Twisters will be used to improve balance and endurance, and strengthen core muscles. The KINDEN Team Building Activities will be used to facilitate team coordination by moving objects from point A to Point B, and promote problem solving skills. The dice bundle will be used to keep the students excited and motivated by providing a fun fresh variety workout. This will also improve socialization skills, and concentration. The weighted sensory lap pads and sensory fidgets will be used to calm and self regulate students to keep them focused. The catch and tossing ball games will be used to improve hand and eye coordination, and reflexes.

Each of these activities will serve a purpose in promoting wellbeing, an active healthy lifestyle, and mindfulness to help our students succeed to the best of their abilities.
