Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

By the end of the school year, I would like all my students, especially the girls, to understand and feel comfortable with coding. As a computer elective teacher, I feel it is important to expose students to coding.

My school is a Title 1 school, meaning that a lot of the students are of low income.

My students are motivated and eager to learn new and exciting things. There is a wide range of technological skills within my students, however, it is great seeing them working together and helping each other to complete their projects.

My Project

My students will be coding creative educational animations using Scratch application. The projector will allow the animations to be shared with their peers so they can receive constructive feedback. In addition to student presentations, the projector will make it easier to model lessons and make it easier for students to follow along.

Having a working projector will greatly improve my classroom because it will allow me to model a lesson and student will be able to follow along a lot easier.

My goal is to introduce coding to my students, especially the girls. Technology is going to be a big part of their future. I hope that by giving them a good foundation in middle school, they will be motivated to learn more on their own. Maybe even make a career of it.
