This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager to make music!
The majority of my students live in the immediate neighborhood, which is a high-poverty, high-crime urban area in CA.
Our school is a Title I school. Our student population is primarily Hispanic and African American and many of our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Special Education, English Language Learners, and Gifted Students are all mainstreamed into music classes.
The music room is a place where students feel safe and are able to be creative and most importantly find motivation within themselves to be successful in school and in the community.
My Project
Incorporating technology in the classroom is essential for today’s learning environment! The white board is great, but engaging students with video and audio will help them read new levels of success.
Having access to a projector on a daily basis will be a game changer for my students' day to day lessons!
Virtual learning gave us a lot of digital tools that we used online, and I would love to bring some of those tools into the in-person classroom. I would also love to share video performances of professional orchestras and bands and musicians on their instruments!
