This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a first grade public school teacher in a low income/high need community, I try to expose my first grade students to all facets of learning in different mediums in order to help them meet their potential and enjoy the learning experience.
Can you imagine showing your students the works of Ezra Jack Keats or Eric Carle blown up on a screen? Can you imagine seeing images of different countries and lifestyles on a huge screen? Can you imagine seeing detailed pictures of different animals enlarged right in front of your eyes? This could be made possible by using multimedia devices in a classroom.
The foundations of reading, writing, social studies, science, and math are established in the first grade. I have a group of ambitious and eager students who respond very well to visual and interactive lessons. However, I only have access to limited technological devices to use for my lessons.
I am hoping to get an LCD/multimedia projector donated to my classroom. An LCD/multimedia projector would help me to present interactive and engaging lessons, to show student work, to project educational videos and PowerPoint presentations, and to display various educational Internet websites to my whole class. These types of lessons will help the visual learners in my class to understand the material that is being taught in all subject areas.
With your help, you will make it possible for my students to enhance their educational experiences by stimulating their visual senses and broadening their imaginations.
