I am trying to teach in the 21st century while having minimal supplies. I would like to present my students with lessons using multimedia and also allow my students to create projects. I teach students that have disabilities and need to see lessons in a "new" way.
I am a second grade teacher in a public school whose district is suffering from massive budget cuts.
I teach some of the most wonderfully talented students. My inclusion classroom is made up of 30 eager, energetic learners. The range of literacy abilities in my classroom are from Pre-K to late fourth grade.
My Project
These recent cuts have an impact on the quality of education the students receive. It has become very difficult to get the supplies, let alone new technologies, to integrate into my classroom. I feel that this puts my students at a very big disadvantage and the quality of education that they receive is not equal to the quality they would receive if they were in another district where they had greater access to technology.
The assignments that my students will be able to create are their own videos and PowerPoints, and with a projector they are able to share their work with the class. I believe that having a projector will enhance my lessons and get the students involved that need a different way of looking at a lesson.
You will make it possible for my students to be able to have a variety of methods to learn and reinforce content.
Furthermore, you will also be providing access to technology to students who will appreciate being able to utilize this resource to extend their learning. In this digital age showing children pictures of the world around them on colored paper and poster paper does not always grab and inspire children as much as an multimedia projector. Please help us get the education we need.
