"You must remain focused on your journey to greatness." My students are a great group who sometimes become easily distracted. A projector can help create more interactive lessons while giving my students the boost they need in the right direction.
My classroom is an 8:1:1 class for students with ED.
Currently, we have six boys and one girl, ranging from fourth to fifth grade. My students love to learn and are very eager to do so. Problems tend to arise in any lapse of time between lessons, so it is my goal to make my classroom as interactive as possible. My class is part of a larger school for students with special needs, but we are housed at an off-site location. Because of this, we do not have as many opportunities to leave the classroom. When my students are engaged, they tend to forgot about issues that affect them outside of class and the classroom becomes a positive learning environment for everyone.
My Project
My classroom consists of a small amount of blackboard space and a medium sized white board. Although these items are effective, I find that sometimes, my students lose focus in the time I spend erasing or changing what I have on the board. My goal, to get a projector, will open up many opportunities for my class. A projector will let me use any of the resources I have on my computer to utilize with my entire class. The GoMath and Treasures curriculum that we follow use interactive materials that I could show to my class. I will also have more time to circulate around the room to help promote student learning.
My project to raise money for a projector will change the lives of my students.
My students are on the path for inclusion, a less restrictive environment, if they do well this year. I have found that routines and structure are the number one key to helping my students succeed. A projector will be a big step in helping maintain these roles in the classroom.
