Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember looking up at the teacher and wondering what she was looking at in the book because the pictures were too small? With the document camera and projector I can project the book and make it come alive.

This is an amazing group of 30 Kindergarteners from different backgrounds, who attend an urban public school in Illinois.

This curious bunch of 5 and 6 years old love to learn in two languages because they are in a dual language classroom, where they are learning to read in Spanish and English. Their favorite time is when they are being read to and they love to follow along in both languages. With this document camera they will be able to do that because I can project their favorite books. The document camera will also allow students to show work and demonstrate their thinking while the other students are able to watch and help the student to succeed.

My Project

With the document camera and the projector, learning becomes engaging and students take control of their learning. It would benefit all different learners. Visual learners would benefit from it because it would make small text and pictures bigger. Students learn from each other; by having this technology my students would be able to use the document camera and be the ones placing objects and explaining what they are showing and what they discovered. The document camera would also make math and science come alive because students will be able to demonstrate their observations and the math pattern they created. The benefit is all students will learn and would be able help each other with their thinking. They are learning two languages so pictures are crucial to give them the vocabulary in both languages, this will help explain a concept in either language to make the students understand. All subjects become more alive for all my amazing students by integrating this technology.

The document camera would provide rich learning experiences for this young group of curious kindergarten students.

It would make lessons more powerful and enrich their learning experiences by bringing this technology in the classroom. It would engage all student and their different learning styles. But most importantly it would be another tool for student to take control of their learning and engage in rich conversation and thinking out of the box.
