My Students
Math can be exciting! I teach math and I love math. But my love and excitement about math cannot alone raise the engagement levels of students who may have been uninterested in math for years! This is why my students would benefit from a projector in the classroom!
My students are amazing.
They have so much energy and such a desire to learn and succeed. My school is located in a low income part of the city and there is a lot of violence in the area. They still come to school with a positive outlook and are ready to learn. The school is not technologically advanced and the small amount of technology we do have is out of date. My students deserve more and if my school district cannot give them more, I want to do everything that I can do to provide it for them!
My Project
I have requested an LCD projector for my students. I will be able to use this on a daily basis to connect math to the real world in a much more relevant manner. This will allow me to not only provide more applicable content, it will also allow me to engage my students for a larger portion of the class period. Instead of spending time passing out paper copies of class starters, word problems, and checks for understanding I will be able to easily do all of those activities with a projector. A projector will help me provide a higher level of rigorous content to my students and inspire them to engage at a higher level. It will allow me to move more freely around the room and be far less tied to the board at the front of the room which will increase the minutes I can spend with struggling students.
My students deserve the best.
While they don't always get the best, you can be a part of helping me provide my students with a relevant piece of technology that will help me connect with my students on a higher level than I have currently been able to do. Math isn't always fun, but I want to make it fun in any way that I can. When math is fun, my students will engage, and when they engage, they will truly learn.
