I am the intervention specialist in a second grade full inclusion classroom. Not only do I co-teach in the classroom, I also manage the IEPs and goals of the nine students with disabilities. In the school system where I teach, more than half of our students are low-income students. More often than not, some of my students come to school without even their most basic needs being met. Even with these barriers, this does not stop my amazing students from coming to school eager and anxious to learn and be the best they can be!
My students' disabilities range from mild to intensive, so I strive to make sure all of my students learn, no matter their ability level, in this setting.
There is a lot of differentiated teaching and learning going on throughout the day to make sure I am meeting the needs of all of the students. This typically means I need to make sure I have a variety of resources at my fingertips to be able to provide my students with everything they need to be able to learn. My goal is to set them up to be independent, contributing members to society in the future!
My Project
Because my classroom houses students of all ability levels, it is so important for me to be able to model and project what we are learning for each lesson on a white board to ensure all students are able to keep up and understand, regardless of disability. This classroom projector will help students be able to learn new content easily every day. Projectors are a useful piece of instructional technology because with it I can model how to solve math problems, students can read a text aloud with me, and they can use the interactive white board to work in their math, science and reading groups. STEM activities can come to life as they utilize the technology to show off their equations and formulas to create new inventions and ideas.
Our current projector is very old and keeps malfunctioning due to needed updates and new parts that are not available anymore due to its age.
This makes it challenging when I plan a lesson thinking I have the projector and it just shuts down prior to the lesson. I find myself scrambling to figure out how to make the lesson work.
When students have the necessary technology in the classroom, the learning and student success can begin.
This Casio Advanced projector is extremely energy efficient. It rarely needs its light bulbs changed because of this and is very cost efficient. It is a new model and expected to last for many years making it perfect for lessons now and in the future!
