Projecting Success: Making Math Come Alive!

My visual learners need an LCD projector to engage with images and examples of pre-algebra math concepts on a daily basis.

"I know we have to learn this Ms. P, but it's so boring! Can't you make it more interesting?" Jessica, one of my 7th grade math students, says this to me on a regular basis.

I teach math in a low-income public school that, like most city schools, is stretched thin for money and other resources. My students understand, at least on an abstract level, that math is important, and they really want to learn, but staying focused is hard for them - particularly when the material is dry. What can grab their attention and keep them on task and excited?

Great visuals! - something that is nearly impossible to provide with a couple of whiteboards and an old overhead projector. Although this is the age of technology, that is one thing that is noticeably absent from my classroom and would make a big difference. An LCD projector is the solution to this problem! Powerpoint presentations allow for exciting graphics and animations to clarify fundamental math concepts and liven up the classroom. With this technology, my students would be visually stimulated - allowing me to access more of the ways that students learn. Using an LCD projector, I would be able capture and hold their attention and ensure that all of my student understand the concepts and are excited about math.

Whether my students are identifying similar shapes and congruent angles, or reviewing for a test on variables with Math Jeopardy, your donation can help make math come alive!
