Projecting Success in AP Calculus!

My students need a high-quality projector to promote understanding and enhance learning in AP Calculus.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Rossi's classroom raised $440

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, urban school with limited materials and resources, my students are faced with various challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many are English language learners who come from economically disadvantaged homes and must balance school and extracurricular activities with work in order to help support themselves and their families.

Despite the barriers they face, my AP Calculus students are driven to succeed and better themselves, and they are very involved in the school and their community.

They arrive to class each day enthusiastic and ready to learn. Watching them tackle challenging Calculus problems, become persistent problem solvers, and work together cooperatively is an inspiration.

My Project

Calculus is all about studying and predicting how things change, so why should students learn about it by looking at motionless pictures or graphs? Whether or not you are a visual learner, you no doubt benefit from seeing something rather than just reading or hearing about it, and you will be more likely to remember it as well. The same is true for my AP Calculus students.

I strive to incorporate as many visuals in my class as I can, but we are currently dealing with a very old, outdated, cracked, and poor-quality projector.

Due to limited funding at my school, they cannot provide me with a new one. Each day, I waste time fiddling with the lighting, the focus, and projector distance in order to help my students actually see what is being projected, and more of then than not, they still have to deal with poor quality visuals that are hard to make out.

My goal is to provide them with a high-quality, crystal clear projector with which I can show my PowerPoints, Calculus in Motion interactive demonstrations, videos, and graphing calculator emulator software. Additionally, I will also use it to project any problems, notes, or worksheets we are doing that day. A projector is something that I use everyday, and it has become a critical component in today's technologically-advanced classrooms. I want to give my students the best education possible, and this new projector will greatly help my students achieve success!
