This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my classroom, I want to create lifelong learners. My students come into the classroom everyday with excitement to learn something new. They come from low income families who struggle with providing the essentials such a warm meal. Their enthusiasm for learning is contagious . About 90% of the students at our school receive free or reduced price meals.
My students are eager to learn and absorb the information presented to them.
I believe I am teaching future leaders of tomorrow.
My Project
This is an exciting year in sixth grade science. My students are inquisitive and want to share their knowledge with others. We use the science and engineering practices on a daily basis. One of those practices includes obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information. The sixth graders communicate their understanding of a scientific concept through their writing. With a class full English language learners, they often struggle to express their understanding, especially in writing.
Having a document camera would allow me to project student work samples that model how to write using technical language.
It will showcase the work of students who are strong writings, and point out common writing mistakes. It is an efficient way to provide feedback to the entire class about sentence and paragraph structure.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
