My Students

I am an English as a second language teacher and I teach in Pittsburgh, PA which is a sanctuary city! Pittsburgh is a great city for a multitude of reasons. Its industrial and manufacturing history, its three rivers, its many bridges, and its sports team championship sports franchises. Additionally, Pittsburgh is known for famous celebrities like Mr. Rogers, Wiz Khalifa, and Andy Warhol, plus foods such as Heinz ketchup and Primanti Brothers sandwiches. There is a rich immigrant history to our city as well, as well as a culture and community that is accepting and loving.

It is my job to address learning loss and ensure my students not only acquire the English language, but also have technology skills to transfer into their daily life after high school.

As English Language Learners (ELLs), our students were deeply impacted by COVID-19 and remote learning. So, I am in need of working technology so that I can address all the learning styles and ensure our students for success when they walk out of my classroom and into society.

My Project

I will be able to deliver exciting lessons, using the new projector! Students are able to create exciting and informative presentations which are more likely to help them get their message across than using speech alone. Projectors enable teachers to create presentations or other highly organized notes for the class. With the use of projectors in the classroom, students can take better notes with the ability to discern what information I displays is most useful to them.

Hearing and seeing language is a powerful tool in language acquisition!

To address two types of learning, visual and oral, is best practice and especially when addressing computer literacy on new platforms, being able to see me model the steps and hear me give directions helps them learn twice as fast!
