This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My architecture classes are all project based courses. Students form small firms within the class and choose a project to work on for the year. The title of my class is Business of Architecture. Student projects range from creating 3D models and architectural renderings to urban planning projects to learn about various communities. Students who create the 3D models are given a budget to purchase products and sell the ideas to the staff and the community. I give them a project, such as design a pencil holder that can be used by teachers. At the end, the company with the best design gets an incentive outside of their grade.

My Project

My students at Williamsburg for Architecture and Design have been given the opportunity to do a design proposal for the Smallpox Memorial Hospital Building located on Roosevelt Island. A group of students will be given the opportunity to visit the site on a weekly basis and use the portable projector to present their project proposal on site and at various architectural firms. With the use of this products my students will not have to wait to show their concept design. They will be able to project their design and see how their design relates to the actual site being redesigned.The students will create sketches of their proposals, CAD, Rhino, and 3D model designs of their proposed plan for the Smallpox Building located next to the Four Freedom Park on Roosevelt Island.At the end of this project, students will present their idea at the Park where students from Cornell University, City Tech, City College, Pratt Institute and a representative from Walter B. Melvin Architects will critique their work.
