My students consist of three 5th grade math classes. They are enthusiastic and eager to learn. My students are part of a rural community in central Florida of limited resources. Our school has 65% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
As a teacher, I strive to help students shine in all aspects of learning.
My goal is to have each student embrace math learning and overcome any challenges they face. In my classroom, I want every student to succeed and be a confident critical thinker.
My Project
I teach math which is a very hands on subject. My students love to work in pairs and groups, which allows them to learn from each other. Our newest student came to us from Puerto Rico after being displaced by Hurricane Maria. We need more opportunities to work side by side and view each other's work so my Hurricane Maria affected student has the opportunity to work with and learn from her English speaking friends. In addition, this would also help us to catch up some of the 7 instructional days we lost due to Hurricane Irma.
This Epson BrightLink interactive projector will allow our Hurricane Maria displaced friend to pair with other students at the interactive board in order to learn from her peers with my guidance.
The reason the BrightLink is necessary for this is because it allows up to 8 students to write on the board at one time, and does not create shadows that block the students from seeing, better allowing our new friend to learn with her peers in a hands on way. Math is such a visual subject, this interactive board will bring the learning right to their fingertips. These learning opportunities would not be possible without the help of DonorsChooe.org,
