Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an urban high school where 94% of students qualify for the federal lunch program. Many are first generation Americans where English is not spoken in the home.

Our school motto is, "A block long and a world wide." This speaks to the diversity of the student body and the idea that what they are learning has implications for our society as a whole and the world beyond.

Times are tough in urban education, and every penny donated will be put to good use.

My Project

I teach Entrepreneurship to 11th and 12th graders. A critical element of becoming an successful entrepreneur is the ability to communicate the business idea. My students create a written business plan and are required to build an effective sales presentation for an in-class grade and for a number of business plan competitions we participate in. Presentations are much better when accompanied with visuals.

The requested projector will allow us to practice our presentations in class and we can take it on the road when we need to showcase our business ideas outside of school.

The old projector fizzled out and we need some help to replace it.
