Help me give my students a great science experience that is hands-on and has the right tools! I would really like for my fourth graders to experience dissection, and be better prepared for the skills coming up.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a self-contained GT (Gifted & Talented) teacher of 24 brilliant students. My students truly love to learn, and make the classroom a great place to be. Every student has a classroom job, and the kids are very self-sufficient; we have a interdependent classroom community. The way the kids' faces lit up during our most recent science lab experiment is the exact reason that I love to teach, and I want to continue to give them quality instruction.
The kids are willing to help, and they are continuing to develop an understanding of the purpose we attend school: perpetual growth, readiness for adulthood, competency, basic skills, etc.
I want to give the kids the BEST because I think they're the BEST.
My Project
I have created this project based on my desire to give my students quality STEM-based instruction/learning opportunities that include the right tools. Currently, we are tending to not be equipped with products that we need, and in order to have labs I'm normally saving up tools or money. I would really like to give the students a true science experience, which overall is helping their critical thinking skills and encouraging them to continue learning.
So far the students favorite lab has been to create a lava lamp for the forms of energy, but as the year progresses the labs become more intricate, and require more for the students to reach mastery of the content being taught, and what better way than to give them intentional, interesting, and quality instruction by having the right tools.
