Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third graders are growing readers, writers, scientists, mathematicians, and much more. They are a diverse group of learners who demonstrate “P.R.I.D.E.” “P” stands for purpose - they are at school to learn. “R” stands for respect - they respect classmates, adults, the environment, and themselves. “I” stands for integrity, they are honest. “D” stands for dependable, they are always ready to learn and prepared in class with supplies, materials, and brains. Lastly, “E” stands for effort - at our school and in class the students give their 100 percent, best effort. My students are part of a community with an exceptional culture. I believe they deserve the best!
My Project
Students will not have to sit on the tile floor during whole group instruction if they have a big rug to sit on. The seating and area rug contribute to their emotional need of feeling comfortable in their environment. Another way the students will feel the difference is having seating on our classroom library. The classroom library is the centerpiece of our classroom. Therefore, it would make a huge difference to the students if they had somewhere to sit during independent reading time. I would also like to provide snacks to the kids who do not bring their snack everyday or forget to bring it. Research shows for a child to learn their basic needs must be met first. Please help us!
