Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach first grade at an extremely rural and poverty stricken elementary school... and I wouldn't have it any other way. They are the seventeen most loving and grateful children you can imagine. I try to bring technology into their learning as much as I can. That is very hard to do with such a limited amount of resources. The current overhead we have doesn't always work and is hard for them to see. It is so old that the glass is extremely scratched up. Because of these things, I can rarely use it. I would really like to have an new overhead projector and a listening station to boost their knowledge of technology and get creative with my lessons. The listening station would be used to reinforce listening skills that I can't always get to on my own. I would also like to use the listening station to bring music into the classroom. These children do not have a music or an art class as most school children do. With a listening station they will be able to listen to different kinds of music and songs and write or draw about their musical experience.
