My Project
I believe that project participation is a wonderful way to inspire and engage all of my first graders in the learning process!
Throughout the school year, I try to include as many projects as I can as we study holidays, cultures, mindfulness, important historical figures, and more.
Always, on the very first day of school, the very first project I ask my students to create is a self-portrait, which we proudly hang in our classroom until the last day of school. The kids are always so amazed at how differently they see themselves by the end of the year! As for new projects, last year for the first time, my students created and used mindfulness/calming jars with great success. I can't wait to see what my class will create this year!
As I am sure you already know, most teachers pay for classroom supplies out of their own pocket and I am no exception. I have, however, been so lucky that, at times, my school has been able to help subsidize some of the materials needed to make the "magic happen". This year though, our school is dealing with severe budget cuts. But I am hopeful that with your generous support I can continue to nurture the curiosity and creativity of my students. Thank you!
