My students need a projector to enhance their learning!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
In today's society, it is hard to go through a day without the use of technology. For my students, this is not the case. Currently, my students learn from presentations on the white board or overhead projector.
My middle school students are from a low income area where technology is not in abundance.
With the high usage of technology in today's society, my students are missing out on many opportunities of learning about technology and the connections it has with the math curriculum being taught. I was able to borrow another teacher's projector for one lesson and my students lit up with excitement. Every student was engaged and focused on the lesson. This is something I want for my students on a daily basis.
With the donation of a projector to our classroom, each lesson will be enhanced. This is especially true when the new projector could be used along with the Mimio presentation tool that our school purchased. I am currently unable to use it because there is no projector. With the use of the projector and the Mimio, my students can interact with new information by creating graphs, using online manipulatives, looking up statistics and so much more. My students will not only learn the material being presented but also how technology can play an important role in education!
The addition of a projector in my classroom will allow my students to become more fully involved with the curriculum by making the information more exciting.
It would provide my students with valuable experiences with technology in math education and also for real world applications.
