Project: I Am Tired of Sitting in a Desk

My Students

I teach 19 excitable third graders. My students are fearless, kind, compassionate, and are risk-takers. They think of others and work together to critically think and solve problems. They are scientists, artists, mathematicians, and are natural-born leaders. The pandemic has brought on certain challenges. Right now students are mostly in their seats and that can be hard for their little bodies.

My Project

This classroom carpet will help my students in whole group lessons, and will also give them a comfy spot away from their desks. Being a primary classroom much of instruction happens on the floor or carpet. Students who are struggling will benefit from this close proximity. I planned on using this as a meeting sport for our Leadership Time in the morning. The pandemic has brought on challenges such as the limiting of shared material such as pillows, clipboards, chairs, flexible seating, etc.

This rug will give my students an alternative to flexible seating.
