Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have the privilege of working at a middle school in the South Bronx- which is the poorest congressional district in the United States of America. I have students who walk into my room and tell me they are hungry and have not eaten throughout the day- I often invest my own money in snacks for the kids to keep them going through the session and the day.
Other materials include educational ones.
As a speech language pathologist, I work on developing students' language skills which will give them the tools that they need to effectively communicate in the world. I also asked for workbooks and games to foster my students social emotional development. In our deeply interconnected and social world, these skills are paramount. I want to continue to work with my students to ensure they have what they need to be successful going into the world.
I also asked for anchor charts, markers and a rug to create an environment which is inviting- which the students want to come to and learn in.
