My Project
"Project Engaging 3rd Grade Vikings" will help third graders at our elementary school to become motivated to succeed. Third grade is a crucial grade due to testing. In South Carolina, 3rd grade students must be able to pass SC Ready to be promoted to the 4th grade. As a teacher, I'm trying different strategies to build confidence and motivate students. The items I'm requesting will allow my students to become engaged and attentive in class.
Reading leads to success in third grade.
The headphones with the microphones will be used for an interactive reading program they use daily. The reading program determines students' reading ability by having students read a passage of sentences by recording them. The next item I have requested is "I Need Help" Mini Flip Chart Signs. I noticed some students are often shy or embarrassed to ask for help. So, the signs will help students become more open when asking questions. The Thumbs Up Down Classroom Voting Paddles will allow my students to agree or disagree. Students will be able to use the paddles when replying to students' responses. I was introduced to an interactive website called Plickers during professional development. I found it to be fun and engaging. The Plickers Cards would be a new engagement tool for my class. I believe students will have fun and become more engaged because the lesson will be interactive. Also, I would use the Plickers Cards for reviewing, introducing a new topic, or an exit ticket.
Therefore, "Project Engaging 3rd Grade Vikings," will help my students to become engaged and motivated in class. The items I'm requesting will help students to become successful in class. They would be able to answer questions confidently and eagerly. Most importantly, engagement among students will become a norm at our school.
