My Project
Hello! I am resource teacher at a low income Title I school. Every single student receives free breakfast and lunch. My students are such a unique group, each with backgrounds distinct as a fingerprint. They each come from different neighborhoods, states, and even counties.
My students are a handful of diverse learners.
Each student has contrasting circumstances and lives that make them who they are and molded them into the student they are today. I am so grateful to be able to teach a group as unique as these students.
Next year I will be switching from special education to general education. Although I will be a third year teacher it feels like a reset. I will be starting fresh in a new space and grade level. Luckily, I will be staying at the same school and serving this awesome community. Coming from special education I have learned how to approach many different types of learners and able to make learning fun with each type of learner.
We are very fortunate to have iPads for each individual student, yet many students are not able to afford durable headphones. Students use headphones on a daily basis in math and literacy centers, as well as when they take assessments.
The books I have selected will let the students see themselves in the classroom literature because I know it is important to celebrate and appreciate their cultures!
The whiteboards, markers, pocket sleeves will be used in math and literacy centers. I have learned through my experience in education that students love interacting with content in hands on ways. Another hands on way of learning will be the CVCC popits. The students will be able to engage with the words in a way that is fun and familiar to them.
