My students need a variety of different colored construction paper in order to create projects in all subject areas throughout the year.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a combination of 3rd and 4th graders and they require a variety of materials in order to successfully create their projects. Project-based learning supports students of all learning styles because students are able to take a higher level of ownership in their learning.

I teach nearly 50 fantastic kids within my different subjects and each day, they remind me why I became an educator.

Their undying thirst for knowledge motivated me to constantly look for ways to provide an even better classroom. My students deserve the best education and childhood that the adults in their lives can provide. Our school is no stranger to the budget cuts that face public education and we are starting to feel it in our lack of supplies. Construction paper is quickly diminishing.

My Project

I am Empowering Students Through Art. In class we frequently create folders for our notes. We use construction paper to create the subject of which we are learning. My students need art supplies in order to express their creativity in all academic areas. In my class, art in not once a week, we incorporate art in all content areas because it allows children to connect to their work on a deeper level. We make folders for all of the different topics that we study as a class. A couple of recent examples include our land form notes had varieties of different land forms created with construction paper and our poetry folder when we learned about the structure of several different poems. In math we strengthen our understanding of various concepts in fractions and multiplication using manipulatives. In science, the students recently used construction paper to decorate shoe boxes with the stages of the water cycle.
