My students need colored pencils for project based learning, the headphones are for personalized station work. Students that do not need teacher help, may move on to the next task on a computer using headphones.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
These students have experienced lots of turnaround with teachers and administration. We are trying to build a bridge with the community this year.
We have a great administration, and we are in the process of becoming an expeditionary school!
My students are lovable kids that just need more supplies for great project based learning. They are hands on learners and need to create projects in small groups.
Our district is moving in the personalized learning, and in order to do that we need a variety of different resources. All of our kids are on different reading and writing levels, meaning some need more teacher instruction than others. This is where PL comes into play (and the headphones). The students need headphones for their independent learning time, where a teacher may be giving another group of students direct instruction.
My Project
Students will be researching North American Regions, and the culture of the Native peoples who lived there through a variety of projects.
They will be making dream catchers, totem poles, watching informational videos, and reading articles to gain knowledge about different regions.
They will also be going on a field trip to enhance the local relevance of this project.
Students will need the color pencils for their final project. They will chose a region they want to study more intensely. They will create a poster project and present it to the class. The appearance of their project will be graded using a rubric; it must look nice! In order to gain this information, they will need to watch videos on their own, which is why we need the headphones for expert level work!
